Bonfire of the Vanities #108
By Holly Aho on Jul 26, 2005 | In Journal, Things that make you go hmmm | 11 feedbacks »

Time to turn in that halo and be a little devil for a day...it's the Bonfire of the Vanities!!! Here are the submissions from around the blogosphere for the worst posts of the week....read them if you dare!
Peakah at Peakah's Provocations... wasted time writing about Al Snore (Gore..Snore...it's all the same) while Cruising through Scientology.
Steve at StevePavlina.com spent way too much time writing a thorough post called What's the Deal With Fluoride only to discover that his careful writing was all for naught...his commenters have already been negatively affected by Fluoride and therefore can't understand his post.
Venomous Kate, in her blog Electric Venom, took the time to write a post about her inability to commit to just one computer (It Can Only Be Attributable To Human Error)...perhaps it's because she names her afore mentioned inanimate objects with male names.
Over at The People's Republic of Seabrook you can see a picture of what life might be like now...If the South had won the Civil War (#4). Even the commenters think this post belongs in the bonfires....
Over at ReidBlog JReid tried (and failed!!) to make some funny pictures even funnier by adding a cute poem and commentary in The adventures of Happy Jack. Seriously...the pictures are funny all by themselves - nothing else needed.
WunderKraut.com is having difficulty figuring out that people dislike family photo blog posts because the pictures are ENORMOUS (three words WunderKraut...Paint Shop Pro). Nevertheless you can read how this dad spent $130 for four hours of fun so he could do nothing...you'll see what I mean...Go on and read What I Did Today.
Mean Ol' Meany says 'I Can Die Happy Now' and then proceeds to talk about being #1 on Google for a post about testicles? I've seen it all...now MY job here on earth is complete.
If you wander over to Classical Values you'll find a post that I personally think belongs somewhere other than the Bonfire of the Vanities...I may just have to add him to my blogroll for taking the time to write such a thoughtful post about art...go read Hating the Hatred of Art.
Then there's this at Blog d'Elisson. 'Schmucks "R" Us' could describe even the best intentioned vacationers with the most skilled planners and advisers, but in this case they had neither. Maybe it should have been titled "Horrible Tale of Woe...".
This post would be good if it weren't so funny...therefore I think an award should be given out to Smegmaster for firing up a ranting storm about someone who's name was misspelled throughout the entire post. Be careful next time YOU call someone an idiot in public! You might just end up like this post - Pissed-Off and Ranting About It.
The Practical Penumbra gives My review of the Kia Rio. Interesting post if you want a 0-3 second review of a car.
Mustang23 at Assumption of Command is lamenting he ever helped Basil to increase his blog ranking. You can go read why he says 'I Blame basil' for the new visitors looking for naked Britney Spears pictures. (Oh great...now am I going to get annoying visitors for saying that??? I blame Mustang23!)
At the GoD: blog you'll find bad timing when a promo single is released, just as bombs don't go off all over London. PR completely buggered....read Rockin Bracknell to find out what the hype was supposed to be all about. I suppose their next single will come out some time in September.....
Harvey at Bad Example has an EXERCISE TIP that is for the birds...or the bird chasers as the case may be. Shameful! In case you decide to take on this new exercise program don't forget to read his helpful hint at the bottom....I hope it wasn't experience talking!
Poor Steven over at BlueStateRed is trying desperately to get the scoop of the century on Justice Edith Clement and be the top reporter on the blogosphere...only to be scooped again..and again...and again..and again.... At least he's learned the reason for the saying "If at first you don't succeed...give up - you're not good at it!"
Brian is having trouble keeping up small talk on his blog Musings from Brian J. Noggle. Maybe the Muse was busy that day helping out some of our other bloggers. Find out how Brian J. Kills the Small Talk.
It seems we have a blogger looking for their identity at Coffee with CrankyBeach. Seems the very people that are ineligible to answer the question 'Do You Know Who I Am?' are the ones best suited to answer. Maybe this blogger needs MORE coffee.
I guess Point Five has learned the finer points of playing with Paint Shop Pro and fixing up images in the post Bush Graces Triumphant Cover Of Newsweek...now Point Five just has to sharpen his (her??) wit...or perhaps it's the wit of the readers that's dull. Guess that's what happens when you try to be sharper than the average knife...
The Right Wing Nut House wrote a post this past week entitled 'THE LEFT TAKES THE MORAL HIGH GROUND'. This post deserves a beating for bothering to quote blather from the Daily Kos and putting it in an article that has a positive sounding title....shame, shame, shame!
Technogypsy has another post with 'art' in the title..."Life mimics art". This post gets thrown in the bonfire for getting my hopes up that it would be an interesting post about ART, when all it's really about is a few talented and twisted people.
Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy has a post up that required no thought at all, He said, she said - an admitted copy and paste from an email! An email that we've all received if we have any friends at all that like to forward us things.....(you know who you are!). No wonder she didn't get any comments - he who laughs last wasn't cool enough to be told the joke the first time...
And finally, firstbrokenangel deserves a bonfire all her own for making me search for the URL to her submission after submitting a wrong URL that will probably get you into the main CIA codebreaking computer if you try long enough. She is having a Pity Party on her blog AAFFLLAACCKK. Perhaps the fall was more severe than initially diagnosed...
That's it for the Bonfires this week...let's break out the smores and get to thinking about the next worst post we are planning to write...you know you have it in you!!! If you would like to submit a post for next week's Bonfire of the Vanities use the easy to fill out form at the Conservative Cat.
Bonfires coming up in the next few weeks:
Week 109 (Aug 2) - Crystal Clear
Week 110 (Aug 9) - WunderKraut

This is always fun for me. You read.
BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES is now up at Soldiers' Angel - Holly Aho!...
Normally quite the angel, Holly the Soldiers' Angel turns to the Dark Sideâ„¢ and dances in the flames today in the 108th Bonfire of the Vanities!
Now that you've read The Good Stuff, go read some crap. Nicely presented crap, but still.....
(Nice job, Holly!) ;-)
For this week’s Heapin’ Helping of Roast Post on Toast, head over to Holly Aho’s Soldier’s Angel. This is the Bloggy-Sphere’s Clogged Drainpipe, the place where all vile posts go to die...for now, anyway.
The 108th edition of The Bonfire of the Vanities (a self-submitted collection of the worst posts by otherwise excellent bloggers) is hosted by Soldiers' Angel - Holly Aho this week. Get thee to the Bonfire (and link to it generously),...
So I made this week's Bonfire of the Vanities for my rant about La Shawn Barber, in which I consistently misspell her name. Oops.
I've also joined Truth Laid Bear's Humor Community. Check it out for a good summary of what's going on around the funny...
(shhhh Beth, I don't wanna hear it!)
Anyway, wanted to thank you for hosting!
Keep up the good work.
Josh
