Hurricane Katrina Memorial, Inspired by the Flight 93 Memorial

Inspired by the Flight 93 Memorial a call went out for a round-up of ideas for a Katrina Memorial. Despite heavy competition from over 1,000 architectual firms and private citizens, one stands out above the rest for its creative and meaningful design:

The designer was a former intern of Paul Murdoch and says he learned everything he knows about sensitivity and political correctness from his mentor. In describing the meaning behind his clever design he said this:
"Circles are a symbol of hope and life. The trees planted to create this garden maze will be young and will reach maturity in about 40 - 50 years, about the same time frame given to democrats. River rocks will be used in the footpaths, and the maze will have several entry points instead of just one, to show the variety of ways this storm came to be. The 'George W. Bush' entrance will be the largest, and will have the most direct path to the eye of the storm, for those that dislike mazes and find them confusing. Smaller entrances will be the 'Global Warming' entry which will feature recycle bins along the pathways, and my favorite...the 'Autobahn' in which visitors can race eachother to the center to see who's the fastest responder. Former FEMA head Michael Brown will be on hand at this entrance to offer advice (as he now needs a new job)."
When asked if he'd noticed that his design bears a striking and perhaps inappropriate resemblance to a hurricane he had this to say, "Circles are a common architectual design, and this was the best way to use them in a maze. There is no 'weather' connotation here, and those that see otherwise are overly sensitive."
Hmmm...You decide...

I love this thing, and the notes that go with it. The global warming part needs some barrels of oil in it too, so that things will keep getting warming and the funnels will spin faster. Hmmm... now there's an idea... can we put that thing on one of those kid's merry-go-rounds?
Tardiness is in no way becoming of a Cotillion woman, so for mine, I must sincerely apologize. This post should have been up hours ago. I just hope the post modern adage, "Always late but worth the wait," might hold...
