Today’s the first day of the Project Valour-IT Fundraising Competition!

What: Friendly online blogging competition to raise money for Project Valour-IT, a Soldiers’ Angels operation.

Who:
There are 4 3 teams competing so far.
Army - Led by blogger BlackFive
Air Force - Led by the Mudville Gazette
Marines - led by me!
Navy - Led by Mrs Smash at the Indepundit

Goal: The goal of the Project Valour-IT fundraiser is to raise enough money for 30 new laptops with voice activated software for our wounded soldiers with hand and/or arm injuries. Each laptop costs approximately $685 plus shipping, so the fundraiser’s total goal is to raise $21,000.

UPDATE 10:15AM (CST) - As predicted - the bigger blogs are going strong and BlackFive has raised $545 so far, The Mudville Gazette has raised $370! While I’m cheering for the cause, I want the Marine team to win with the most donations!!!! So - use the Marine Team button (at top of page here) and donate on behalf of the Marine Team! Let’s do the impossible and show some blogging muscle for the small(er) blogs!!!

UPDATE 6AM 11/3 - NZ Bear from the blog The Truth Laid Bear has graciously offered to help the Project Valour-IT fundraiser with a sign-up program for bloggers who would like to join a team and get involved. It’s not up and running yet (I’m fighting the flu so I’m slow), but here’s how it will work. The Project Valour-IT official website as well as TTLB will have a page for bloggers to choose a team and add their blog, as well as a page listing the blogs on each team. I’ll post links as soon as they are available.
