"Our Heroes" - A Tribute To Our Veterans
By Holly Aho on Nov 11, 2005 | In Journal | Send feedback »
It occured to me today that perhaps many of you who have donated to Project Valour-IT or plan on doing so, would like to give that donation in honor of a special veteran. I'm setting up a special online book to honor our Veterans. If you would like to donate in memory of a special veteran, or as a tribute to a special veteran in your life, you can do so and then add a page to our special veteran's book. If you have already donated and would like to honor a veteran with that donation you may add a page as well. You need not donate again today if you have done so already. You may add images and stories to your pages, just like a scrapbook.
So, donate, write a tribute to your special hero, and read the tributes from others in the book "Our Heroes". This book will remain up forever.
It has been a great honor and privilage this past week to be a part of the Marine Team for Project Valour-IT and help our wounded vets with something truly meaningful. Today marks the last day of the fundraising competition, and the results so far are amazing. From the team totals of online donations alone, 100 laptops can be purchased. That's more than triple the original goal that started this fundraiser.
No matter which team you are on in this competition, no matter which team you donated on behalf of, you have done something special. Some wounded soldiers may never know there was a fundraiser, or which team helped raise the money for the computer held in their lap. What he or she will know is that they are loved and respected by Americans who are grateful.
If you have not yet done so, make a donation to Project Valour-IT in honor of Veteran's Day (button at top of page).
