APRIL 9th - IRAQI LIBERATION DAY

I had an interesting call this morning, and an interesting conference call following. The conference call was a blogger briefing, from Families United. From their email prior:
April 9th is the third anniversary of the liberation of Iraq. In recognition of this important milestone, Families United is sending a letter to the heads of the national media outlets encouraging them to give Iraqi Liberation Day the coverage it deserves.
Families United believes bloggers play an essential role in promoting the accomplishments our troops have made in the War on Terror. Monday’s briefing will address Families United’s mission, the letter sent to media about the lack of positive coverage on the successes in Iraq and the unreported victories overseas.
Speakers include Families United founder and former Army Maj. Chuck Larson, veteran Bob Stephenson and Gold Star Family member Diane Ibbotson, who has lost a loved one in the defense of our nation. You can check out Families United at www.familiesunitedmission.com.</blockquote>
In case you weren't aware, Diane Ibbotson's son was killed in the same incident that killed Casey Sheehan. However, she had quite a different message than one you'd expect from Cindy. I'd rather listen to Diane any day.
The Washington Times has been the only paper so far to pick up this story:
Families of American troops are asking national newspapers and television news networks not to ignore the three-year anniversary Sunday of the day Saddam Hussein fled Baghdad and his statue was toppled.
"We are keenly aware that the national media is drawn towards covering milestones and we respectfully request that you not ignore this historic date," Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission wrote to four news network presidents, National Public Radio and four national newspapers.......Letters were sent to the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and The Washington Post, as well as to ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC.

A few bloggers had the wonderful idea to let some military members (or their family) post a "guest post" on their blogs in recognition of "Iraqi Freedom Day" (which is Sunday, for those of you that didn't know). The other day, I was asked if I would do...
I would like to share a few thoughts as a active duty Sailor. I may be called at anytime now to go over there as more Sailors and Airmen are being sent over there to help out the Army. The Sailors and Airmen are doing such jobs as Interrogators, Guard...
When all we hear is how badly things are going in the Middle East, we need to remember how well things have gone. Surely, whatever your politics, surely you are proud of our American Warriors.
